Nujno je, da očistimo prst in da je popolnoma čist in suh noht. Če so še vedno ostanki prejšnjega umetnega nohta ali lepila, očistite s topilom, po možnosti brez acetona. V primeru enojne nad gradnje ali podaljševanja nohta ne zahteva dodatne priprave.
V primeru zlomljenega nohta odrežite in poravnajte noht na spodnji meji zloma. Odvisno od trdote želenega nohta odrežite 1, 2 ali 3 kose svile enake velikosti.
V večini primerov priporočamo uporabo 2 kosov; uporaba enega samega nohta zagotavlja zelo fleksibilen, uporaba 3 pa daje zelo trd noht (nekateri kitaristi uporabljajo 3, 4 enake kose za palec in 2 za druge prste).
Izbira dimenzije svile mora biti določena glede na širino naravnega nohta in želeno končno dolžino. Za širino odrežite kos tako, da popolnoma pokrije širino začetnega nohta.

Depending on the hardness of the desired nail,cut 1, 2 or 3 pieces of the same size silk.
In most cases, we recommend using 2 pieces; the use of a single nail provides a very flexible and the use of 3 gives a very hard fingernail (some guitarists use 3, 4 even pieces thumb and 2 for the other fingers ) .
