V središču tega gibanja na glasbenem področju je bil Jimi Hendrix, kitarist, kakršnega takrat svet še ni videl. 31. julija 1968 je igral pred razprodano množico v Municipal Auditorium v Shreveportu v Louisiani. Odrska postavitev je bila svojevrstna. Ni bilo potrebe po visoko kvalitetnem light-showu ali zvočni opremi.
